Reviews

We’re going to be adding some new reviews over the coming weeks for the Dreamcast’s most recommended games, as judged by the DreamcastON team.

It’s still early days but we thought we’d start off with a true forgotten classic…

Sega Extreme Sports

Not a game that’s gone down in history, received much critical acclaim or even really registered on your average gamer’s radar, Sega Extreme Sports is a true hidden gem from the Dreamcast’s vast and impressive back catalogue. Choose your character and you’re off; racing down mountains pulling tricks on your snowboard, conquering rocky terrain on a chunky ATV, paragliding through ravines towed behind propeller powered aircraft and building up those calf muscles with some furious mountain biking. You even get to go bungee jumping, and that isn’t something you see too often in computer games past or present, let’s be honest.

I absolutely LOVE this game, although it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that keeps me glued to my controller for so long. The graphics certainly make use of the Dreamcast’s power and are impressive throughout, the soundtrack is ace (with all tracks from Ninja Tunes no less!) and the gameplay is fast and challenging from start to finish.

On your own or with a mate this is a real peach and begs to be played if you’ve not already tried it out.

Once we’ve got some screengrabs I’ll write a more in-depth lowdown on this classic title but for now I’m gonna leave you with my score of 82% and a recommendation you try and get hold of a copy if you’ve not already got one. As soon as we have any copies in stock you will of course hear about it first HERE at DreamcastON.com
